jupysql breaks markdown syntax highlighting

What happens?

With jupysql installed, a user created a markdown cell in a python notebook. The syntax highlighting was broken. When we removed jupysql, restarted the server and edited the markdown in the notebook, the syntax highlighting was correct. Reinstalling jupysql, restarting, etc. caused the issue again.

To Reproduce

The software was running inside a docker container built from https://github.com/berkeley-dsep-infra/stat159-user-image/. See berkeley-dsep-infra/stat159-user-image#21 for screenshots.
