When selecting an object from the tree and having the highlight enabled, it will create a transparent red-ish frame within its borders. That is intended behavior. However, when you click on the blank area of the tree, it "unselects" whatever you had selected. What should happen is that the highlight should also go away when unselecting an object, but it instead stays to the last-selected object. I love the highlight as it makes navigating the tree visually appealing, however, the red highlight obstructs the view and there is no way to disable it without disabling the entire feature.
