In the newest version, there is now a toolbar with commonly used components, this is excellent and I appreciate it.
there are 3 minor quibbles I have with it:

  1. The switch should be a dropdown with the SPDT switch
  2. The Op-Amp should be a dropdown with the "ideal + on top" version
  3. The title for the voltage source (1 terminal) says "voltage rail" while this is appropriate for the component, it is inconsistent with the name it is given everywhere else.

Would also be great to deselect a mode by clicking on it again, and also de-highlighting it when pressing Esc.

When you say "deselect a mode" you mean go into select/drag mode, like when you press space / ESC, right?

It should of course de-highlight when you press ESC. That's just a bug.. I always use space, so I didn't notice.
