PeaZip 8.9.0

PeaZip 8.9.0 release completes the progress towards the upcoming 9.x line, with many updates both for the UI and under the hood.
Amongst the many improvements, a progress bar is now visible when opening archives, and theming engine was updated to make the application easier to integrate with different desktop environments.
The archive creation / extraction menu was revamped to make easier to add bookmarked or previously visited files and folders, and a new "Add to separate archives" entry is available in app's context menu.

PeaZip 8.8.0

PeaZip 8.8.0 release completes the evolution of the GUI started in previous releases, providing more customization options to better integrate the application in different environments.
It is now possible to automatically test archives after creation, and to propagate Zone.Identifier stream on Windows when extracting archives.
TAR format support was improved, with option to follow pax or gnu standard, and to save owner/group ids and names (on Linux).

PeaZip 8.7.0

PeaZip 8.7.0 release comes with a simpler to use interface with re-organized options, improved file manager, and refreshed themes.
Sources package was re-organized for better usability.

PeaZip 8.6.0

PeaZip 8.6.0 release comes with new themes and improved, easier to customize UI layout.
It is now possible to use custom compression pre-sets (either built-in or user defined) from command line and scripts, and to set immediate execution for custom compression pre-sets.
Updated backends: Pea 1.07, and (Linux) Zstd 1.5.2.

PeaZip 8.5.0

PeaZip 8.5.0 release improves the packages for macOS platform, with macOS-style keyboard shortcuts, integration with macOS context menu, full support to "move to trash" deletion (both from file manager, and after compression / extraction operations), and support for Brotli, Zpaq, and Zstandard backends. macOS system integration is fully scriptable through Automator .workflow scripts, see sample service menus in (peazip)/res/share/batch folder.

File manager was improved, and now allows more alternative styles (large list and large details) on Linux.

It is now possible to optionally integrate PeaZip in Windows 11 mini-context menu from .reg scripts in (peazip)/res/share/batch folder.
This release improves scripting, usage of layouts (files defining advanced inclusion and exclusion filters, and optionally input list), and updates compression settings.

PeaZip 8.4.0

PeaZip 8.4.0 is the first release providing experimental native packages for Darwin / macOS platform, built for aarch64 M1 Apple Silicon SoC, and Intel x86_64.
This release brings fixes, improvements in management of temporary files, option to stop test batches only if errors are detected, and new language selection control.
A new alternative benchmark is available, based on integer and floating point arithmetic, testing single core and multi core performances.
PeaZip now comes with updated backends: Pea 1.05, and 7z 21.06, which is now employed on all platform.
On Linux, 7z backend replaces p7zip, which is still fully supported as alternative.

New peazip-x.y.z.pack package is meant to help developers to create packages of PeaZip for various package management systems (e.g. DEB, RPM), containing packages' directories from last build.
It does not replaces or duplicates the function of sources package peazip-x.y.z.src, as it is simply meant to help packaging the application for a specific distribution system, rather than compiling and building the binaries of the application.

PeaZip 8.3.0

PeaZip 8.3.0 adds Deflate and Deflate64 options for .7z format, improves theming, command line usage, management of preferred checksum/hash algorithms list, and management of temporary work files,
The release is focused on improving the support for Linux, and to make easier to port or package the application in environments mandating a precise filesystem hierarchy structure, separating architecture-dependent binary resources from other types of rersounces packaged with the application.

PeaZip 8.2.0

PeaZip 8.2.0 is focused on improving use from command line and scripts, and introduces (peazip)/res/batch folder which contains sample scripts and system integration files both for Linux and Windoes (SendTo and freedesktop_integration folders are moved here).
The archive manager is now capable of optionally displaying compression/encryption method, and modified, created, accessed timestamps for each item in archive, and to display number of items contained in each folder.
It is now possible to chose to keep extracted files even in case errors occurred during the extraction, and working with spanned files was improved.
Smart extraction is now available as default action to take at program's startup, alongside Open, Open as archive, Extract (full), Extract here.
This release also improves user experience on Linux systems improving the automatic configuration of applications for "open with" actions, and displaying more system's paths in the file manager.
DEB and RPM installers are extensively updated, with application now being installed in /opt/peazip.
Backend were updated to Brotli 1.0.9 (Linux).
A total of 225 file extensions can now be managed by PeaZip, with addition of .apkm, .apks, and .aab Android package formats, and of Lzip .lz (supported on Linux versions only).

PeaZip 8.1.0

PeaZip 8.1.0 is focused on tuning performances, opening large archives faster and using less RAM - sample archive containing 256K items opens 4x faster with -35% RAM usage.
Archive conversion procedure is improved, new user-provided themes are available, and on Windows systems Extract32 own utility can be set as alternative extractor for CAB files.
Backend were updated to Pea 1.02, Zstd 1.50, Tino Reichardt's 7Z codecs 1.5.0r1 (Windows), and szcnick p7zip 17.04 (Linux) which supports Brotli, Lizard, and LZ5 as the Windows counterpart.
Windows installer can now accept language as command line parameter.
A total of 220 file extensions are now supported by PeaZip, with addition of .whl (Python) and .gem (Ruby) container formats.

PeaZip 8.0.0

PeaZip 8.0.0 introduces many under the hood updates, improving how container type files are managed for browsing and conversion, improving use of TAR format, allowing to create scripts requiring interactively typing password, improving search, preview functions, random password generation.
GUI was updated with new style menu and icons in status bar to make easier to change look&feel on the fly - i.e. switch from list to viewer mode for previewing images.
It is now possible to customize the default action PeaZip will take opening an associated file type - open (as usual) or directly extract it.
PEA is updated to 1.01 version, which improves capabilities to run in background and interact with other applications.
On Windows systems, makecab.exe can now be easily used from PeaZip, as pre-set available in Advanced tab of custom archive type screen.
A total of 218 file extensions can now be managed by PeaZip, with addition of .xappx format, and various Open Packaging Conventions filetypes (.3mf, .vsdx, .mmzx, .aasx, .slx, .scdoc).
