Current design of data structure in ORMA required users to input Section attribute manually through Editor. However, this is a very labor intensive task while Section attribute data is already available in Excel file. ORMA should allow to upload these Section attribute tables and link to recorded geometries using VPRoMMS ID, Link number and Section number.

The section attributes in the Excel file are not associated to a geometry, something that ORMA - built to be inherently geospatial - requires. Over the summer and based on discussions with the team, we came to the conclusion that it would be too complex to automate the process of the creation of sections and it would inevitably lead to bad data in the system. Instead, we all decided to focus on making it easy for people to add and edit section information through the iD editor. This provides everybody with as much flexibility as possible to model the sections as needed.
