Infinite redirect loop

I have a website where I switched frameworks behind it which means that most URLs slightly changed. For example:

/category/self-hosting/ is now /blog/category/self-hosting/

So I set up a redirect as follows for those categories that still exist:

source = "/category/{*}/"
destination = "/blog/category/$1/"
kind = 301

However, this leads to an infinite loop because /category/foo/ redirects to /blog/category/foo/ which redirects to /blog/blog/categories/foo/ and so on.

Is there any way to specify to match only the full path after the hostname? An equivalent in regex would be ^/category/....

Your advanced.redirects example does not enter into a loop if you request /category/foo. Can you please provide a more detailed example so you can help to understand it better or a way to reproduce your issue?

It is indeed much easier to write redirects with the glob syntax than it would be with regex.

Why not just write it like this: /[a-z0-9-]/[a-z0-9-]/ using glob ranges? Does it not work for you? or do you want a more specialized case?

I need it as a group that I can refer to in the destination, and it needs to match multiple of those characters. I realized that it is possible to write it as /{[a-z0-9-]}/{[a-z0-9-]}/ to get a group. I haven't figured out a way to match multiple characters. Based on the documentation of globset it should also be possible to use [!/] however the resulting regex will only match one character.

However, maybe there could be a totally different solution: Since ** can match multiple directories I was thinking that * should only ever match one path segment (i.e., not match the separator). The globset crate does have an option for this:

Yes, you could make use of a single * to prevent going forward to the next "directory" level (a.k.a. path separator).

Would you be open to making literal_separator == true the default? If so, I could start a PR.

Sure, https://docs.rs/globset/0.4.15/globset/#example-configuring-a-glob-matcher is a good default. Honestly, I overlooked it because the path separator character on Unix-like systems will never be matched by default as far as I can tell. Anyways, PR is welcome.
