Hi Guillaume,

The EclipseLocator in Nyx is mostly useful to find the start and stop times of eclipses. This is helpful when exporting a trajectory, as in this example. In general, this feature is used to analyze orbits and check that a given mission design meets the power generation requirements on a mission.

Under the hood, the EclipseLocator directly calls the ANISE solar_eclipsing function. Therefore, if you have a fully defined orbit (position, velocity, epoch), and are looking to know whether your spacecraft is currently in eclipse (or any percentage of eclipsing), then you should use ANISE directly.
