RP2040 zero doesn't install RPI_PICO2-20241129-v1.24.1.uf2 after circuitpython 9.2.3 has been installed

I have a RP2040 zero, which I initially installed with micropython by using thonny on windows.
Everything worked fine until I used thonny to install circuitpython to evaluate it.
I did not like circuitpython as much as micropython, so I tried to revert back to micropython, but thonny always failed with "port not found".
I then downloaded the latest micropython .uf2 file.
After I had put the RP2040 into boot mode, it showed up as E: in my window explorer.
I moved the downloaded .uf2 file to the E:\ root folder and expected an automatic reboot, but nothing happened.
The RP2040 now always comes up with: Adafruit CircuitPython 9.2.3 on 2025-01-17; Waveshare RP2040-PiZero with rp2040
How get I get micropython installed again?

Use the file for RPI_PICO, not PICO2: https://micropython.org/resources/firmware/RPI_PICO-20241129-v1.24.1.uf2
