Special characters or long texts reboot node and don't send message

Android app: 2.6.30
Node: heltec v3 on 2.6.4 firmware

With the new version of the app, my partner and I have both noticed that sometimes a message won't be sent AND it'll reboot the node attempting to send it. Previously (before the UI rework) it would freeze the sending app up for a bit and also not send the message. Both of us are on Android.

I haven't been able to work out which special characters and in what numbers or combinations seem to do it, but I think it happens most with apostrophes. Either way, it means breaking up the message into several different messages even though the original fits within the character limit.

I tried to submit a bug report through the app, but idk if that actually did anything. I also tried searching through previous discussions here but didn't find anything that seemed relevant.
