Things that could have been done before the release was cut

• find the date for the previous release (for Nutmeg, this was April 11, 2022)
• find the date for the next release (for Olive, this was October 11, 2022)
• Create a wiki page for the next release, on the Open edX Release Planning wiki page (Palm)

Things to do after the release is cut

• add an appropriate TOC to the release notes
• add any items from the Olive wiki page
• Review and incorporate any feature posts from edX Partner announcements
  • Course App Configuration & Discussion Integrations
  • New Text / HTML Editing Experience
  • Introducing a New ORAs Grading Experience
  • Discussion forum upgrades are live!
• Review and incorporate any feature posts from the open edX blog
• Review commit messages from relevant repos. Dinghy seems like a useful tool for this. I used this config olive-dinghy.yaml
• Review DEPR tickets
• Diff the technical documentation and build a list of links to both new and removed settings

Things to do after the release is made public (after June 9th for nutmeg)

• update https://edx.readthedocs.io/projects/open-edx-release-notes/en/latest/os_documentation.html and replace the maple documentation links with nutmeg documentation links
• take a snapshot of the technical documentation (toggles and settings) for the nutmeg release, so we can diff them with the olive release

Meta tasks

• Review and update this checklist
• Commit this checklist to a more durable location
