[Bug]: DM500HD internal card reader not working

Describe the bug / Actual behaviour:
It seems that the kernel driver is missing or not working. The system has the /dev/sci0 but whenever it gets accessed i get :
ERROR: Opening device /dev/sci0 (errno=19 No such device)

Expected behaviour:
should be able to use the internal /dev/sci0 device,

Has this issue started to happen just recently?
no, could track it down to OpenATV 7.4, in OpenATV 7.3 it was working. Taking the kernel from OpenATV7.3 (from the working version i had) did not work as 7.6 does not seem to start with the 7.3 kernel.

To reproduce:
start the device,
put in a sd card into the internal smart card reader,
run an app that reads from it.
