Description
Hi,
I would like to report a bug I came across on OpenATV 7.5 and 7.6 beta regarding subtitles support. The same stream works correctly on VLC.
Describe the bug / Actual behaviour:
Although the m3u8 stream includes subtitles they do not work on OpenATV 7.6.
Expected behaviour:
The m3u8 stream's subtitles should be visible and playable on the "subtitles" menu.
Has this issue started to happen just recently?
I haven't tested it on OpenATV before 7.5.
To reproduce:
As an example I used Pluto TV Adventure channel stream (with hope it is not geoblocked).
- Optional, only if you want to start on a fresh OpenATV instance: Install all the required packages:
opkg update && opkg install enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-serviceapp exteplayer3 gstplayer gstplayer2 - Create a channel favourites TV list entries using code below

' > /etc/enigma2/userbouquet.favourites.tv
init 3 # Start Enigma2 GUI
- Go to the "Favourites (TV) bouquet"
- Now check if we can turn on/off the subtitles of the channels. In serviceapp menu subtitles are turned on by default so I haven't changed that setting. the results of a test are as described below:
- Channel Pluto TV Adventure 4097
The subtitles track is visible. The subtitles do not show on the screen even if they are turned on (subissue 1.). Enigma2 crashes when trying to turn on and off the subtitles (subissue 2.). - Channel Pluto TV Adventure 5001
There is no subtitle tracks visible on the menu (subissue 3.). - Channel Pluto TV Adventure 5002
There is no subtitle tracks visible on the menu (subissue 4.).
Screenshots
As a comparison I attach a screenshot of the stream's details from VLC - we can see 3 streams:
0 - subtitles stream: WEBVVT subtitles (wvtt)
3 - Audio stream: ADTS
4 - Video stream: H264 MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (h264)
And all 3 streams do work on VLC (subtitles are visible on the stream when they are broadcasted - looks like all the time except the "Pluto TV" logo advertisement pause).
Image/Box Model (please complete the following information):
- Version: 7.6, on 7.5 all subissues except 2. also do occur
- BoxModel: Octagon SF-8008
Additional context
I will provide additional data if necessary (logs, etc.). I can also assist in testing possible fixes (for example by putting the relevant files in the directories).
