The new version of MT ComparEval has more metrics. So the table that displays the metrics when I compare two tasks is wider than before:

It is so wide it does not fit. I have to scroll right to see all metrics. When I want to use the scroll bar which is on the bottom of a long page then I have to scroll quickly: It disappears quickly because new rows are loaded.

On my screen there is a lot of unused space left and right of the content area. A wider content area would solve this problem.

Workaround: instead of using horizontal scroll bar, you can use right arrow (on your keyboard) or select the text with your mouse (drag the mouse to right).

I agree this is a (low priority) usability issue (the workaround is not a nice solution). In the Overview of all tasks, you can hide individual metrics by clicking on the graph legend (and the columns will hide as well). Maybe we can use a similar mechanism here (perhaps a multi-select combo-box in the Options, so the user can unhide metrics if needed).

A wider content area

MT-ComparEval should work also on smaller screens, so I don't see this as a solution.
That said, it would be nice to have a button (or whatever) to expand the content area to the whole screen, so more sentences are on one line and better visually aligned with the reference.

Another possible solution: Have scroll bars underneath each table.

Another possible solution: report only the metric selected in the upper right corner. This can be reported on one line (instead of table), to save some space.
Personally, I would vote for this solution because:

  • I never look at the other columns than the green one.
  • The table is too big (even without scroll bar), so I see less sentences on the screen.

Probably the best solution would be to change the "Show sentence level metrics" option from checkbox to radio buttons: none, selected, all. The default would be "selected".
