It skips areas if device locks or switching app.

Can you give us more details on this. Like how much time passes before you come back to the app. By area do you mean a whole area you are scanning or just a single circle is missing? Do you get any messages that appear afterwards coming back to the app?

Give us as much detail you can and step by step guide to reproduce this.

I think it is some sort of Internet connectivity detection issue.

  • If the device has been locked for some time and I unlock it and use the app (which is already running) then I'm lucky if searching works.
  • If I've completed a search in the app and switch to another app and then switch back again then I can (most of the times) start a new search. If I switch to another app during a search and switch back then searching is usually broken.
  • If I restart the app searching works.
  • Sometimes a scanned location isn't shown on the map but is just missing. I don't always see error messages when this happens.
  • If I start the app when I'm on wifi and move out of the wifi-zone while the app is searching then the device connects to the Internet through 4G but it usually breaks the current searching (unable to connect to the pokemon servers).
  • Frequently I'm unable to start a new search (cross hair is shown on map but searching isn't performed) and I have to restart the app before it'll work again.
  • Yesterday I started a search which resulted in a lot of error messages (failure to connect) which was shown very rapidly. My impression was that each sub-search couldn't detect Internet connectivity and failed and then a new sub-search was started which also failed. They weren't shown as scanned locations.

I don't see the same issue on a Samsung S4 Mini. I think it might be because the Z3C is setup in a way to preserve battery usage and it shuts down the Internet-connection when the device is locked.

Do the app produce any logs which could help further investigation?
