Can you please upload a screen recording so we can see more clearly what you mean by "not available"?.

The controls are there, they just don't work. By design, I suspect, but worth reconsidering. So, specifically:

1. enter fret mark on tab staff
2. in Properties, trying changing notehead to, say, "+" (plus)

Result: the Properties panel shows you have selected it, but the fret mark doesn't change. None of the various noteheads works, except "X" (cross). Similarly, the parentheses button doesn't work.

In the video I demonstrated toggling "Notehead parentheses" and "Notehead tupe", only "Cross (X)" worked. In version 4.3, they are effective.
