Hi,

I would like to profile >7000 16S fasta files against SPIRES. Does mOTU allow that?
My goal is to assign habitat preferences for each sequence based on relative abundance of an OTU, as well as to determine habitat richness by evaluating how many different environments each sequence is mapped to.

Thanks in advance!
Morgan

Hi @morgansobol

I apologize for the delayed answer.

mOTUs is a taxonomic profiles which uses metagenomic short read sequencing data as input. It was not designed to work with 16S sequences or with 16S short read sequencing data. So the tool itself will not be useful. I recommend to drop a mail to the developers of SPIRE if you re already working with the data.

Best,
Hans
