Mediatek 7925 m.2 setup

This is not about USB but rather an M.2 WiFi7 card. What modification are needed to be made to the hostapd-WiFi7.conf from here? I had to comment out ht_coex=0 but otherwise used it as is. Below is the result of trying to launch hostapd

Well, I realized I don't have any more WiFi7 devices around so I'll probably need to switch to 5 GHz anyway.

By the way, 6 GHz is working fine (*) with the posted hostapd.conf if the country is set to CA in both the iw reg and .conf

• meaning turning on — I don't have any client device with this band to really check

Well, I realized I don't have any more WiFi 7 devices around so I'll probably need to switch to 5 GHz anyway.

Something else to consider is that once you go beyond WiFi 6 to WiFi 6e and 7, things get complicated.

I have a mt7925 based M.2 card in my Mini PC. I have not had time to test AP mode with it yet. Let me make a recommendation that you stick to WiFi 6 and band 2 (5 GHz) for now while you learn the new chipset and driver. You seem to have found the stand alone example that I have on the Main Menu?

The mt7925 could have some different settings than the mt7921 and mt7922 so if you want to work with me, I can add the work to the example hostapd.conf. Once you are rock solid with WiFi 6 and 5 Ghz, then you can slowly work on WiFi 6e and WiFi 7 as you have devices that you can use to test.

FYI: New firmware files were just posted this week for the mt7925 chip so getting upgrading to them is important.

Yes, I downloaded the latest firmware and I used you hostapd-WiFi6.conf. It threw a couple of error messages but started and the SSID showed up.
