Syntax highlighting for org source code

Since there is a parser for org in JS already, is it possible to add syntax highlighting to the org source code itself? For example, utilizing the CodeMirror code editor written also in Javascript. Or will that still be a largely separate job, even though the parser and corresponding grammar is already there?
