How to connect to minio installation with aws s3 client

I have watched the youtube videos and read the documentation for installing minio with helm. But I can't find any documentation on how to access the minio S3 API with an aws client to list the s3 buckets.

Expected Behavior

Able to find some instructions on what service to do port forward on, find out how to get the credentials to be able to access the s3 API.

Current Behavior

I found indications of that port forward might be "broken" when reading open github issues. But maybe I'm misstaken. I've tried to use the ingress but get "Couldn't connect to server" as response.
