Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes

  • VS Code Version: 1.96.2
  • OS Version: Windows 11 10.0.22635 Build 22635

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Install Maple Mono SC NF (https://github.com/subframe7536/maple-font/releases/tag/v6.4) by dragging to Control Panel/Appearance and Personalization/Fonts
  2. Restart VS Code and set editor font family to 'Maple Mono SC NF', monospace in VS Code settings
  3. Note that it works for now
  4. Restart PC and run VS Code again
  5. Font rendered reverts to the default monospace font, setting is still the same.
  6. Font still works in Microsoft Word so I don't think it is an OS issue.

Update:

I did some troubleshooting and solved it by right clicking the font and selecting "Install for all users". It seems that VS Code doesn't play nice with fonts installed for the user only.

Please close the issue if this is expected behavior or keep it open if this is something to be fixed.
