Script database project update from database

The SQL Database Projects extension makes it possible to update a database project by running a schema compare against a connected database. It's also possible to import into a new project from a connected database.

I'd love to be able to do this from the command line! I've already asked a question on StackOverflow, but there doesn't seem to be a way of doing this at the moment.

This has got me wondering whether it's possible to reverse engineer what's going on in the extension's source code (which the repo's license allows).

Before I look into this, I thought I'd ask:

• Does anyone already know of an easy way to update (or recreate) a database project from a database via the command line?
• Does anyone know of any reason why it'd be prohibitively difficult to try to reverse engineer this?
• Has anyone got a sense of how big a job this might be? My appetite for this work is probably less than 10 hours. Given I don't know much about TypeScript or how Azure Data Studio extesions are written, maybe it's not feasible to achieve much in that time 😅
• Does anyone have any pointers or tips?

If someone thinks that there's something better to do (e.g. extract the relevant code rather than reverse engineer it), I'd love to hear it!
