I am currently getting this error when I try to access the plugin via my GUI
TypeError: Failed to Fetch
Any idea why?

Just checked for you -- working fine here, with CraftQL 1.3.4 and latest Craft 3.4.5.

In fact I've been working heavily with it all last week, and iit's been fine: internal, external, CraftiQL.

I presume your 'my GUI' means the CP CraftiQL query tester. Have you checked the browser console for JS errors? Or cleared the browser cache?

'Failed to Fetch' sounds that somehow the CraftiQL viewer has lost track of the server it supposed to be accessing - or ability to make a connection. Clearing the browser cache and reloading ought to sort this, unless it has to do with something in your Craft (probably Sites) config which is getting CraftQL mixed up.

Good fortune...
