--------- | USAGE | --------- For any script, run $ ./[name].py -h To see proper usage. The typical options are usage: *.py [-h] [-c COMPILER] [-i INPUT_FILE] [--clean] [-m {local, yellowstone, cheyenne, hobart, edison}] [--mpitasks MPITASKS] [-n NAMELIST_FILE] [Description of test] optional arguments: -h, --help show this help message and exit -c COMPILER, --compiler COMPILER compiler to build with -i INPUT_FILE, --input_file INPUT_FILE input file to read --clean remove object, module, and library files for MARBL driver -m {local, yellowstone, cheyenne, hobart, edison}, --mach {local, yellowstone, cheyenne, hobart, edison}, --machine {local, yellowstone, cheyenne, hobart, edison} machine to build on --mpitasks MPITASKS Number of MPI tasks (default: 0 => no MPI) -n NAMELIST_FILE, --namelist_file NAMELIST_FILE namelist file for the marbl standalone driver But some tests only require a subset of these. For example, bld_tests/bld_lib.py and bld_tests/bld_exe.py do not accept the following options: --compiler option Tests build with every compiler supported by the specified machine --input_file No executable is run => no need for input file --namelist option No executable is run => no need for namelist file ------------------------------- | SUPPORTED / DEFAULT OPTIONS | ------------------------------- The supported machines are the only valid values for the --mach option: * local -- Assumes you are running on a machine where compiler(s) are available in the path * yellowstone -- NCAR supercomputer * cheyenne -- NCAR supercomputer * hobart -- smaller NCAR cluster (managed by CGD) * edison -- NERSC supercomputer If you do not specify a machine, the script will try to recognize one of the supercomputers based on your hostname, otherwise the default is 'local' The supported compilers depend on the machine. For the --compiler option we use the following shorthand (listed in order such that first one encountered if machine is 'local' is the default) * gnu -- the GNU compiler, gfortran (requires v4.8 or later; supported on yellowstone and hobart) * pgi -- the PGI compiler, pgf90 (requires v17.4 or later; supported on yellowstone and hobart) * intel -- the Intel compiler, ifort (default on yellowstone, also supported on hobart) * nag -- the NAG compiler, nagfor (default on hobart) * cray -- the Cray compiler, ftn (currently not supported on local, default on edison) For tests that read MARBL configuration variables and parameters from namelists, the default namelist file is marbl_in. The --clean does NOT run the test, instead $ make clean is run from either the src/ directory or the driver_src/ directory (depending on the scope of the test: tests that only build the library only clean the library, while tests that run marbl.exe clean both the library and the driver)
