It was very strange for me to hear that users may not care about file names. What's more important for a file?
Anyway, the thumbnail bar is libfm-qt's folder view, which includes the file name as an inseparable part of the item.
Sorry, something went wrong.
I remember other imageviewers just showing thumbnails real narrow without anything, important that you can jump to the image you want.
So this would need a complete rewrite, probably it isn't worth it.
