e.g. that a particular biography (or other) was published at a certain point in time, rather than created.

No changes needed for the model, but the API only allows created_by and not used_for

suggests that used_for is a valid property?

It is for full records (eg the endpoint APIs) but not for embedded statements: https://linked.art/api/1.0/shared/statement/
