Disc swapping #179
Comments
There is no need for a disc swap feature for that purpose. 3DO games always reboot when a disk is changed. Games that are multidisk write to NVRAM and when the other disk is loaded it checks the save to ensure you are at the right place in the game. https://youtu.be/qI_-Xa5wTOU?t=1346 The only reason to have disk swap is for people who want to use the disk swap feature in RA. To swap games just ensure the NVRAM is set to shared or copy the file if you set it to per game. |
I am on retroarch on xbox series x using opera, and the file extension is .chd, I have the nvram set to shared. As soon as I get to the insert disc 2 and go to menu and load disc 2 it just tells me to load disc 1 |
Can you share the nvram file? |
Not sure what you mean by that

The nvram is stored to a file. I am asking if you could share the file so I don't need to play the game all the way through to the second disk to investigate. |
Idk how to do that from a xbox series x, the only thing I could possibly do
is take a video of it actually happening

That's not going to be helpful. I need to be able to confirm you have a file that represent the end of disk 1. Have you booted disk 1 to confirm you've got a saved game at the end of that disk? Have you used a save game manager to check that the save is there? |
How do I create a save for retroarch?

It creates SRAM files for you when you exit the emulator or depending on your settings. Called "Saving" in the settings menu. And the location they are saved depends on again how things are configured by the "Save Files" option in "Directory" settings menu. |
I will take a look tonight, sorry I have been at work
