The ending is plenty darn glorious. I felt positively horrified at Hyolee dying in the bombing just as I was leaving town on my first completed run through the game, for example. And the mix of SF0 and SF2 combat is pretty good; you're encouraged to keep both types of skills up for the endgame.
Except the last location clue in the main plot is not used. The ending just triggers in the first town the player visits after the end plot is triggered. At first I thought it was just a glitch, but in my four completed games it's consistent: you chase the XRAN plot through, but the last location clue never leads to the actual location of the sleeping Typhon.
The above code just triggers the rest of the endplot provided the player is in any target town. However, I think it's better if the endplot is triggered if the player is in the town that the last XRAN location clue N3 is.
We would have to select the end plot's E1 (where the professor is) to be far from N3 (and probably move all the plot-level Elements one number higher to !Grab 3 from the story), but basically, it seems strange to have the endplot pop up at a location that isn't the same as the last location clue.
