WLANINI: SSID empty. Device init aborted! What to do?

I had it running a year ago already on my ESP32-CAM. Then I used it for something else. I wanted to reflash ai-on-the edge but now I get weird error messages (see log below).

I tried the web installer as well as manual install with the Espressif tool. All the same.

What's wrong here?

you have to enter your WiFi access data in the wlan.ini.
