I use it to monitor my gas meter, which works very well. I have developed an information monitoring system, which can aggregate various sensor inputs to provide chronical sequence graphs: InfoCollect

It is quite helpful to view the daily trend of the gas consume and compare it to the temperature inside and outside, when you want to assess the many advices to conserve energy that you get today. If you have numbers that you measure in your own home, you can prove that it is simply wrong, what some experts say, while other ideas sound promising.
