Am I doing something wrong? MQTT not showing much if at all

I am in the midst of a power outage right now. I have very few items within MQTT right now. And less in Home Assistant. Please see some screen shots of MQTT Explorer and genmon. I would REALLY like to know the transfer switch status. I had it at one time or another soI am confused where it went.

I see more things populating - not sure why its taking 15 + minutes after an outage - but still very confused why MQTT seems less than reliable. I still don't have transfer switch status

Ok now I found it but you can see it wasn't there before?!

Based on the limited data, a guess would be that your MQTT server may not be connected to a UPS? If that is the case, and your MQTT time out is set for 1800 seconds (30 min) and the power outage could reboot the MQTt server and the add on would not resend the data for 30 min for items that have not changed.

I restarted genmon after changing retain to no and then back to on. I deleted the main topic. All the topics under do not have retain on.

I changed to eclipse-mosquitto:2.0.15 and I think its working now!

That is great. What version were you running?

I didn't specify a version. I was talking to digiblur and he runs that version and genmo without a problem. He said newer versions had some retain issues. Lets see how it goes. Thanks for all the help

FYI, my mosquitto version is 20.0.20
