Extend it for Gas Meters

Describe the solution you'd like
I would like to use this for a gas-meter as well. My gas-meter has a mirror in the 6 of the 1l wheel, which gives an impulse every 10l of gas. This can then be calculated in kWh (11.21 kWh per m3 according to my Utilities Company).
I have the gas-met in HA already using another sketch which lacks the calibration feature.

Maybe you rework the setup to implement wider usage beyond Ferraris Power Meters.

Likely I could use the kWh per turn parameter to adjust this.

Converting this into a discussion as I probably won't change the Ferraris meter into a swiss army knife component and won't add gas meter specific stuff. Anyway, what exactly is missing in the Ferraris meter to also support the gas meter? If it is just about counting pulses from the infrared sensor, shouldn't it already work with the component as it is today?
