Expected Behavior

When I have a compilation album credited to Various (or any actual artist for that matter), with different track artists, the Various is shown as album artist everywhere.

Current Behavior

Track artists are regularly shown as album artists, instead of the actual album artist.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Add an album with different track artists than the album artist, for example a compilation album.
  2. Check the pages where the album appears (artist pages, album page, Home page).

Possible Solution

Separate album artist tags from artist tags, and use each where appropriate (so album).

Might wanna pay attention to artist pages. I would suggest using the "Appears on" tab that I see in settings (but not on the artist page somehow) to take albums with different album artist but where the artist is a track artist.

Context

For example. "A Very Special Christmas" is listed as a Bruce Springsteen album on the Bruce Springsteen album page, listed as a Eurythmics album on the Eurythmics artist page, etc. It is listed as a The Pointed Sisters (track artist from the 1st track) album on it's own album page. On the genre page it's credited to U2. On the Home page it also had a different artist, even a different one on "Recently Played" than on "Newly added releases".

In actuality, the Album Artist is set to "Various".

I appreciate your detailed bug reports for Subsonic, but unfortunately these are unlikely to be resolved as I'm working on the rewrite which is Subsonic-first.

I figured as much, no worry. I didn't expect much updates on them unless it turns out to be a extreme easy fix or so. But I also thought I'd post them for documentation purposes. And while a rewrite would probably have little use for these, it may be good to know them as points of attention.
