The ilab directory layout after initializing your system documentation seems inconsistent with itself and with what I observe when I setup ilab on MacOS. I pointed this out on Slack, and @nathan-weinberg pointed out the following:
I think the docs are out-of-date, IIRC Jaideep Rao changed this here: instructlab/instructlab#2202

So I think the documentation needs to be updated accordingly.
