The effort will take a broad look at critical issues that are not explicitly addressed in the Leios paper. Key items include sharding of the input blocks, management of the memory pool, fee and rewards structure, and mitigating threats to CPU, network, and protocol in relationship with Cardano. Mathematical models will document the protocol design options related to this considerations, and can form the basis for initial analysis and prototyping. Decisions about deeper analysis and implementation in later program increments will rely on the results of this ticket.

Acceptance criteria

  • Design options and supporting analyses for sharding of input blocks
  • Design options and supporting analyses for management of memory pool
  • Design options and supporting analysis for fees and rewards
  • Threat model for DDOs and non-compliance attacks

The mempool design will most likely be dependent on the sharding design.
