git subrepo push does not notice new commits

Hello! Thanks for the open source. Often i'm getting

Subrepo 'x' has no new commits to push

on

git subrepo push --all 

Despite there are commits in x which that sub-repository does not have?
Is that known bug?
Any workaround?

This occurred to me as well and seems to be the same problem as issue self-reported by repo maintainer: #568

Trying the subrepo clean workaround and will report more info once I understand the problem a bit better.
