Feature Request: Ability to sort on any field

Is it possible to add the ability to sort on any field in either ascending or descending order?

Added ability to sort in my pull request. If you need before he pulls it in you can get it from my link:

sort is allowed at the base level, so the following would work. reverse is not a required attribute and defaults to false.

sort:
value: fieldnametosorton
reverse: true
