There's a new version of Slate out (0.50+) and it has many major changes. It was thoroughly rewritten based on all of the learnings from maintaining and developing with the past versions. It is a big change.
For a list of all of the major changes, see the Migrating guide.
As always, Slate is in beta. If you require stability, there's no requirement to upgrade right away. There is some missing functionality that I wasn't able to convert yet, and there are likely bugs in places as it was a total rewrite.
When you do upgrade, I think you will greatly appreciate the changes. They make writing Slate editors even easier than before, and they make slate-react even more React-y.
If you have questions, ask them in our Slack chat.
The documentation is still in the process of being fleshed out. Ideally reference docs will be able to be auto-generated from the same comments that are used for VSCode's IntelliSense, but we haven't found a great way to do that yet.
