Stringified JSON as attribute

I was trying to register and enroll a user having an attribute with the value of a stringified JSON. For example:

fabric-ca-client register --caname ca-org1 --id.name minter7 --id.secret minterpw --id.type client --tls.certfiles "${PWD}/organizations/fabric-ca/org1/tls-cert.pem" --id.attrs ATTR1=\[\{ ""a"" : ""abc"" \}\]:ecert,ATTTR2=abc

This works from the Fabric-node-sdk, but there's no way to send this using CLI. Am I missing something, could anything be done to make this work. If this behavior was consistent from both the ends, that would have seemed okay.
