project image distorted on ios devices

Hey guys I'm not quite sure what's happening, the site is configured to work the way I want it but for some reason on initial load the images on the projects page are distorted. This only happens on safari and all browsers on ios. After refreshing the page the image then reverts back to the css settings I want ( object-fit: contain).
I'm not all that familiar with ios development and can't for the life of me figure this bug out. Has anybody had a similar issue?
