From my discussion with someone who was interested in my take on Python in Excel:
"By using pyodide, that is in theory a lot more secure and nothing needs to be transmitted externally. However, back then to the problem of it not being an official Microsoft thing (though goes in via the add-in store, so maybe IT would be more amenable...) and the source code not being open, so probably infinitely harder to get approved. But it looks like it solves a lot of the complaints people had with Microsoft's implementation of python in Excel"
