In the 13th century an empire rose from the Mongol heartlands that conquered every stretch of land from the shores of Korea to the plains of Hungary and from the borders of Russia to the frontier of India. Under <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/Genghis-Khan"> Genghis Khan</a>, the Mongols created the biggest contiguous land empire that the Earth has ever seen, but due to their nomadic nature most of the works detailing their enterprises originated from the conquered and their enemies. Through this skewed view, Western knowledge and past historians came to describe the Mongols as barbaric, knowledge- destroying savages who did not contribute to the furthering of human civilization but only detracted from our progress.
