Please consider to provide mono builds alongside the normal builds, Mono C# is a official language too.

What would be different in a Mono build from the current one?

Sorry, I don't know. But we have AAR library for Android plugins (Mono / C#), so I thought that we should had to build the plugin with it for C#.
