RFE: Support externally hosted git repos

It'd be nice to be able to use externally hosted git repos as the backend (i.e. github), in order to leverage all the great git hosting platforms that already exist, to eliminate the need for lots of storage on the GlitterGallery host, and to be able to keep design-specific repos in close proximity to related dev-specific repos.
