Are the `matplotlibrc` respected?

I just ran a notebook manually and it didn't work there either

I think the metadata is (unsurprisingly) being removed by our pre-commit hook. What we wanted was to clear the running order metadata, but not the dimensions. Will see if we can adjust that.

I just ran the density notebook manually without running pre-commit

and then ran pre-commit

I think the resolution is working fine, isn't it?

So I double checked with the galaxy redshift one. This is what happens if I run it without running pre-commit

and after running pre-commit

so it's definitely not pre-commit related

You added that notebook in #567 @ntessore. I don't believe we are having resolution issues, are we? How did you execute it? Did you have some global config that overrode it?

I tried moving that notebook to the top folder (to check the symlinks are working) and it still clears that image/png metadata

My theory @ntessore is that you executed that notebook not within the glass directory, hence the matplotlibrc wasn't picked up. I think if you aren't happy with the output, then we need to review the configuration in https://matplotlib.org/stable/users/explain/customizing.html.
