Slow custom-api load times

I want to start off by saying that I absolutely love this project. Amazing work and dedication by the developer!

I'm curious how other people are dealing with this:
Currently using about 8 custom-api widgets, some have very short cache times and because of this, every time I open the dashboard, it takes 2-3 seconds. Is there a workaround?

Coming from Homepage, the way it handles widgets is by first loading the page with placeholders until the API request is complete and then injects into the placeholder. Allowing for faster load time if you are primarily using the dashboard for links to services.

I know Glance isn't a Homepage replacement and it was primarily developed as a RSS/video/news feed dashboard but I'm trying to make it my one and only dashboard because it's just beautiful.

It was discussed in #304, not sure if it will be implemented though. But there was a mention about placeholders or skeleton screens.
