How to paste images to Github?

In a typical markdown textarea on github it is possible to drop or paste an image file, which is then uploaded and inserted as HTML.

Is it possible to preserve this behavior and other behaviors like it while using firenvim?

I have tried pasting via the RClick menu (it tells me nothing in register) and dragging the file to the window (this doesn't register that its landing in the textarea and instead it opens the file in a new tab).

I am using Chrome, MacOS Sequoia

It seems like i can get around this by exiting neovim (:wq) and then pasting as normal and then re-activating neovim (Cmd-e). It would be nice if there was somehow a cleaner way though.
