Seems like the .alg extension has reached the popularity threshold to be added to Linguist.
I could make the PR to add the language to GitHub, but I would appreciate the input of people with more experience with the language regarding which syntax highlighting should be used between the 2 mentioned above.
Does the syntax for Algol 68 include all the syntax in Algol 60? Should they be added seperatly or as a group?
@jemarch Thanks for confirming that Algol 68 isn't backward compatible with Algol 60. I guess it might be better to add them seperatly then. However, we would need regex rules to determine if a .alg file is Algol 60 or Algol 68.
Regarding the syntax highlighting you linked, unfortunately this can't be used by github-linguist since it's not a textmate grammar like the ones I've linked in the top post.
