Since the latest update the word „Gender“ was changed to „Sex“. This was also mentioned in the release notes.
Obviously it was forgotten to rename the variable „Gender“ to „Sex“ in all messages.php files.

Thus, the existing translation of the word „Sex“ is not considered in any language view. You can see that by viewing a person in the Webtrees webappliation (so user-page).

Solution/bugfix:

Replace
‘Gender‘ =>
With
‘Sex‘ =>

In all languages „messages.php“ files.

On 2024-11-29 webtrees added a new translation Sex.

On 2024-12-01 (two days later), release 2.2.1 was created.
A few languages had been translated but most had not.

Since then, many other languages have been translated.
For example, French was translated on 2025-01-03
You can see this in resources/lang/fr/message.po.

These new translations will be included in the next release.

As far as I can tell everything is working as expected.
Translators are volunteers, and do not always work to the same schedule as webtrees releases.

If you think there is a problem with a specific language, tell me which one.

This is not about missing translations, as the translations for the word ‘sex’ (formerly ‘gender’) are obviously available. (but I have not checked all languages).
But for the translations to work, I had to translate the variables ‘gender’ into ‘sex’. (see my first post)

Let me use French as an example.

The latest release of webtrees was 2.2.1, which was on 2024-12-01.

The translation for "Sex" => "Sexe" was added on 2025-01-03, in commit a7891aa

This is after the 2.2.1 release, and was not available at the time. But it will be included in the next release, 2.2.2

I had already understood that.
I'm using 2.2.1 and it says ‘Sexe’ in French.
(After I renamed the variable ‘Gender’ to ‘Sex’ in the French Messages.php file)
