Hi,

I'm using the pre-compiled (.ipk) version:

https://github.com/fangli/openwrt-vm-tools#for-convenience-i-published-the-ipk-binary-for-openwrt-18061-if-you-are-running-the-same-version-of-openwrt-feel-free-to-just-download-and-install-it

It works like a charm!
I suggest to create a PR for the official OpenWRT-Packages repository.

I'm at 19.07.3 now. Pre-compiled one seem to run on 19.07.2 but would like to see this in the official OpenWRT packages repo also.
