Climate Sonification: Sonify NASA data on climate change during the Covid crisis

In this project we use NASA's recently published data [1] on regional effects of human activity on carbon dioxide emissions. Due to the COVID lockdowns that happend at different moments in different areas, the researchers were able to disentangle human activitiy causes from natural ones.

Project timeline

  • 8 April: First meeting
  • 15 April: Project Plan due
  • 16-25 May: midterm presentation
  • 1 July: Final deadline thesis

Data

Detailed instructions for data access can be found here.

To obtain data locally, follow these steps (Be careful: loading the daily data took me about ~2h)

  1. Create Earthdata account.
  2. Run setup.sh and follow instructions.
